Pinot to Palliser Bay Tour
Visit a unique fishing village, the Seal Colony and Palliser Bay Lighthouse.
One cost covers the tour, a Gournet Alfresco Lunch and a glass of wine and beverages.
$475 for a couple. Carrying Capacity - 2 people to 6 people maximum.
Not suitable for children under 18 years.
Tour runs over the Summer season only. November 2011 to March 2012.
Highlights of the tour
- Be driven in a luxury 4WD Land Rover Discovery over some of the youngest land in New Zealand. Pushed up out of the sea by plate movement this soft rock has eroded into fantastic shapes.
- Visit the Ngawi fishing village and meet Babe the pink bulldozer and hear how she plays a vital part in the fishing fleet.
- Marvel at the weird and wonderful rock formations caused by the strong Cook Strait winds and weather.
- Great photo opportunities all along this coast.
- Meet the seals at the large colony at Cape Palliser
- Climb up to the Cape Palliser Light house and enjoy stupendous views over Cook Strait to the South Island.
- Relax in a sheltered valley or on the beach (weather permitting) with a Gourmet Picnic Basket and a glass of wine. Two options: Vegetarian or Fresh Fish. Other beverages available.
- On the journey back to Martinborough enjoy a quick visit to the historic Lake Ferry Hotel for a beer or coffee and enjoy their lake and surf views.
Tour start time is 10.30am from Martinborough Square. A pick up can be arranged from the Featherston Railway station or your accommodation in Martinborough. Tour finishes at 4pm.
